Let’s Talk Social
Pinterest has been around since 2010 and has really given life to many different aspects of social media. On top of messaging and sharing things with friends on the platform, Pinterest lives and breathes topics such as the fashion industry, DIY projects, blogs, recipes and many other markets. I think this platform is a place where most organizations connected to these markets can benefit greatly from. Having a place where pins can be directly linked back to you, your influencers and your products can be a great avenue for original content that directly leads to interest and hopefully sales.
As an avid Pinterest user, I pin a variety of things. The most pinned things I am interest in is fashion, beauty products, DIY project ideas, recipes and decorating ideas. I love to not only grab ideas from Pinterest, but also find where I can buy the product or products to create an idea. One of the most frustrating things is when I find either a piece of clothing, or a decorating item that I would purchase, but I click on the pin it doesn’t take me to where I can buy the product. It may take me to just an image, or a site that doesn’t relate to it. I would have bought the product, but I am unable to find it or anything similar.
I think businesses could greatly benefit from putting content on Pinterest for people like me to pin, and eventually buy. I also think it would be beneficial to have their influencers be on Pinterest as well or be looking for bloggers to link your product or service to their blogs or pins. I know this tactic would work for me and many others if businesses take advantage of it!
