Awesome Content Creation from The Ohio State University Football Program


The nights are getting cooler, the sun is going down sooner, the girls are starting to taste the sweet pumpkin spice latte that will find it’s way into their hands and even the leaves are getting ready for a change. For most people, this means one of the best times of the year is upon us…college football. As a fan of the sport, we can get caught up in what the game has to offer us. We follow them on social media, we hope the marketing department comes up with a great new T-shirt for us to represent our favorite team during the season, we crave for the best updates on the lineup and we follow who can give us the best information.

When following my favorite college football team, The Ohio State University Buckeyes, I found all kinds of new information about the ways The Ohio State University and Clemson University have been using social media to target high school recruits as well as their fans. Urban Meyer, the head coach of the football program at The Ohio State University, is the push behind the greatness of the program. Not only does Meyer push for excellence on the field, he pushes for excellence in all areas of his staff and communication.

After deciding to invest in the communication aspect of the program, Zach Swartz was hired as the director of new and creative media. OSU decided to take on the communications role full speed ahead and strive to not be complacent. A huge benefit to being in the communications department for one of the most popular college football teams in the nation, is the amount of people they put behind the effort. They have meetings every morning for planning content creation, they have on staff graphic design crews and more. The idea behind this campaign is to share an inside look of OSU football to their fans, but most importantly their recruits.

Their content creation and creativity is what blows my mind away. After scrolling through their Twitter for longer than I want to admit, I am so impressed and I think you will be too! Check out some awesome content from their page below!

What a great way to display the emotions that come with being a part of The Ohio State University football team.

The Ohio State University Football Twitter account has a great use of videos as well for their posts. This is great content about not only the football team, but the recruitment for the team as well.

This post for me really displays how great their graphics department is on creating content. 

Again with the incredible graphics the department has a consistent brand throughout their posts. The tagline is also perfect for their marking efforts. 

This creative idea to share a football schedule is not only consistent with their branding, but also with the hype that their social media efforts create about their season.

Although I may be one in a million people who don’t have a Twitter account, The Ohio State University (OSU) seems to be doing a great job advertising themselves to fans and recruits. This constant acknowledgment of players, as well as updates of posters and merchandise keeps fans and potential recruiters on their page looking for something new. OSU is a very popular team, so I can only imagine that out of the 150,000 followers, at least 9 out of 10 are anticipating their next post. This page is the perfect way for followers to keep up with their friends, as well as their favorite sports team all in the same place.
