IT IS CHRISTMAS TIME!
Some of you reading this may be thinking…but Halloween hasn’t
even happened? And what about Thanksgiving? My answer is still – IT IS
CHRISTMAS TIME! My reasoning is that rehearsals for the ONU Holiday Spectacular
started this week which means it is definitely time for Christmas!
Christmas has always been my absolute favorite time of the
year, and this is no exception. The earlier I can start listening to Christmas
music, the better! Being in the ONU Holiday Show gives me a great excuse to
start now. With the show being the weekend before Thanksgiving, rehearsals
start this week. The whole show is ready to be performed after only three and a
half weeks of rehearsals. That is pretty impressive.
Many people get annoyed when I tell them it is time to
listen to Christmas music. They say I am ruining Thanksgiving. I love
Thanksgiving and I believe I do a great job of enjoying it for what it is.
However, there is no Thanksgiving music and I don’t think starting the
Christmas music early does anything to ruin it. My family also has a tradition
of taking the day after Thanksgiving to decorate the house for Christmas. This
includes picking out a live Christmas tree, decorating almost every space on
the first level of the house, hanging stockings, lights outside and more. You
could say my family is pretty into Christmas.
Because the ONU Holiday show is put together so quickly we
must learn the content of the show very quickly. In order to get all of the
songs memorized I often find myself singing them at all times of the day. This
can get a little distracting and annoying if you are around me a lot during
this time of year. If that is you, I just hope you like Christmas!
I hope everyone enjoys their holidays this year with family
and friends. Happy Holidays!
