A Summer Full of Stuff

A Summer Full of Stuff

As I return to school and inevitably hear the, “how was your summer?” remarks and the “it went too fast” answers I can’t help but reminisce on all that happened for me this summer. Although looking back the summer seems to have gone so fast, at the time some days were long and some were short. This summer has changed so much of my life. With almost an overwhelming amount of changes occurring right now in my life, although sometimes not fun, I have learned so much about myself. I experienced so many new things, traveled new places and started new chapters of my life. I plan to take this semester to go back through all of the new and exciting things I got to do this summer.

First, I want to go through a few themes of what I learned this summer about myself and life in general.

1. Not much will prepare you for the big storms in life. However, building strong faith and relationships during the good seasons of life will definitely help. Life will inevitably be hard sometimes and things can change in the blink of an eye. If you have a strong relationship with Christ and have good people by your side though, you can still find hope.

2. Travel beyond what you know. Do your best to make time and put away money to travel somewhere new every once in a while. Getting out of your comfort zone to try new things and understand how other people live is a vital skill to becoming a well-rounded person.

3. Commitment is worth it. After finding my soulmate and getting engaged this summer I can fully say it is worth the pain of past relationships to get to this point. The love and support in finding a lifelong partner is pure joy.

4. Find joy in everything. I found myself feeling down for extended periods of time this summer. I didn’t like how I felt and also didn’t like how it was making other people feel. I have made a point to intentionally be more positive each day around others. It makes each day a little brighter and may even help someone else feel a little better too.

  1. Sounds like you learned and grew over the summer, so did I. Life changes and sometimes one just has to roll with it.
